noooo, .. *-) but it was a pain in them using it.

hint

it can only be used for about ten minutes and then it's all screwed up..... ha ha ;)

then the device needs to be reset.

PS
and the bit of metal as Dave called it
is actually a thingamubob.

OK - you got me going here :)
Is it a Barn 'Door Tracker' mount for a camera as used in astronomy for star photos ?
I made something similar 'when the world was young' but had a motor driving it.
Cheers

I can see where Leif is coming from but like the idea of DaveM's home-spun astral camera stand. However, 2 bits of wood hinged in the middle with a sighting tube attached to the apex does seem rather low-tech in this day and age.. unless you want to prove a point *-) We can't see any holes in the lower piece of wood so how one would attach one bit to t'other in order to make any form of stable platform isn't immediately obvious.

Tell us what it is NOW otherwise I'll rescind your membership

Bingo!

I made it in 1997 and captured this image of comet Hale-Bop

Image

thats a ten minute exposure with a 105mm on a canon eos 3 800 iso fugi film ( this is about one thrid of the photo after cropping

the big screw lever is rotated in time with the second hand of a watch .. the location was Port Mayaca Fl on the banks of Lake Okeechobee

I took 10 or so shots .. ten minutes each adjusting exposure..
the whole time holding my ears in between my shoulders to keep the skeets from flying in my ear canal ... couldn't bump the camera .. 8)
a swarm of biblical proportion I swear it
it was torture gentleman ....pure torture ... and I did it all for you,,,, I hope your happy .
