LOL... Great image. I've not managed to do that yet on my 377... And I've certainly pushed the engines at times... Worst I've done was forget to pull the cowls in before take-off and had them ruined and stuck at full open at Vr!
Nice quick circuit and then try and explain to the pax that they're not in Nova Scotia yet...

You were lucky not to crash in that case. There have been real life total loss accidents with the 377 caused by the cowl flaps being fully open on take-off. They create a huge amount of drag and an unrecoverable stall is almost inevitable if you forget to close them before starting your TO run.

I was lucky enough to get a flight in the MATZ Connie in 98 at Midland Odessa during the CAF air display.
Not only was the Connie known as the best `three engined transatlantic airliner` the MATZ Connie carried a spare in the fuselage just forward of the seats.
It flew to the UK for a display season and when flying home over the north sea suffered an engine failure.
When radioing the UK for a return the crew were surprised to hear an RAF C130 ask if they needed assistance.
Apparently the RAF had been shadowing the Connie over the sea just in case.
Bit sad the MATZ connie is now in a museum.
I think the flight cost me about $500 but it was a once in a lifetime flight.
I also flew in a Martin 404 and a P51. Happy days.

If memory serves, I was very light on fuel and pax to be honest. I think it was second or third flight, and only a half hour jaunt.
