That would have to be on the most detailed model cars I have seen in ages. Was it a kit or already pre-built?

Glad to see it identified....My initial guess of the Mercedes 300SL was not a million miles away then... ;)

Well you could also say that the 300SL and the 300SLR coupe are as different as chalk and cheese...The SLR has the same chassis as the Grand Prix Formula One racing car and the same very high reving desmodromic valve gear and inboard mounted drum brakes etc etc...But yes, the coupe body does look almost the same and Rudolf Ulenhaut used them as his personal cars to travel between the factories...He set numerous records for these journeys but I expect other Autobahn users all thought that the silver flash going past at enormous speed was just another 300SL.

The 1:18 scale model is by CMC and has 1817 parts and needles to say it is not a kit.

BTW...another huge difference is the driving position...because of the large inclination of the engine, the tranmission hump passes between the drivers legs, so he sits with legs well astride.

The Stewart family had a great time driving it up the hill at Goodwood this year. Jackie took it up first and then Mark and Paul had a shot each in it.

Expect the dealership to open soon. :)

You are probably talking about an SL...One of the two existing 300SLR Coupes are static in a museum in Stuttgart. Although the other has been exhibited at the odd event :)

I hope you don't mind me asking, but what scale is the Formula F1 Car next to the computer tower?
