That would have to be on the most detailed model cars I have seen in ages. Was it a kit or already pre-built?

Well you could also say that the 300SL and the 300SLR coupe are as different as chalk and cheese...The SLR has the same chassis as the Grand Prix Formula One racing car and the same very high reving desmodromic valve gear and inboard mounted drum brakes etc etc...But yes, the coupe body does look almost the same and Rudolf Ulenhaut used them as his personal cars to travel between the factories...He set numerous records for these journeys but I expect other Autobahn users all thought that the silver flash going past at enormous speed was just another 300SL.Bridon Bear wrote:Glad to see it identified....My initial guess of the Mercedes 300SL was not a million miles away then...![]()

You are probably talking about an SL...One of the two existing 300SLR Coupes are static in a museum in Stuttgart.
