Okay, in danger of totally make a fool of my self I'll try to explain it ....

This guy here has had a mistress for some time, and she has apparently left him, so his moans to his mate:

"The love of my life has left me" Which, if no more is said, might imply that his wife has left him.

But then he continues:

"Now I'm stuck (left back) with my wife and kids" ....

So he was actually referring to his mistress as "The love of my life" instead of, as you might expect; his wife ...... Get it? No? still not?

Christ, is getting even worse than ever .....

Maybe I should just refrain from trying to be funny or tell jokes at all ....

I think most of us understood that from the word go mate. I'd quit now if I were you
