Does this Virtavia model look like a rework of the old AlphaSim model or is it a new build ? Also, has anyone here gone and bought this yet and able to compare it with the AlphaSim model?
I was wondering, since it looks like the old AlphaSim model was not released freeware like some of their other models. It would make sense for Virtavia to hold onto it if they were going to re-work it and re-release it later on.
I've been playing around with Ted's model for FS9 over the last few days and like it a lot

. I admit that I downloaded it a while back, but never did anything with it
I'm just wondering if this is worth a look or whether Ted's is good enough to make it not worth spending the hard earned pennies on.
Cheers for any advice folks

Hi Gordon..
I can't speak from personal experience as I already own the Alpha release but I can't imagine for one moment this is new from the ground up. Nice to be proven wrong but I doubt it very much. The only things I'd expect to be 'new' in the true sense of the word are those not previously released under the Alpha banner like the very nice Islander a spent an hour in yesterday

The Virtavia FSX Hampden is a port over of the Alphasim FS9 one. It was a free download for FS9 Hampden owners shortly before the Alphasim site closed.
With a non-clickable cockpit, I really dont think it should be advertised as FSX compatible, even though that shortcoming is pointed out in the small print. The external model is pretty much okay apart from a few potential tweeks, and I wonder if it would be worth Virtavia investing in a new VC for it ? I'd certainly welcome it, and it'd be nice to have a 1930s twin released that actually isn't a DC-3.

Thanks for the opinions Guys, much appreciated.
Think I'll stick with Ted's for the time being, I got the sound Pegasus sound set by Gary Jones this afternoon and it does polish Ted's freeware model off rather nicely
PS Anyone done any repaints for Ted's Hampden?

Be interesting if they have Gordon. IF you go down Alpha/Virtavia route (you MAY eventually.. some things get you like a bug

) there are only 3 paints with that. 1 paint with the Hampden model and 2 with the Hampden 1

Not a lot for your dosh as they say!
