I am using FSX.................I can live with the T/O performance, but when I activate "F2" for reverse............there is not a lot of response, so can I assume that I am doing something wrong?
Cheers.

No mate, if I remember rightly its a bit fiddly in the sim. Fraser put some clever code in so that there was a way of activating reverse before touchdown as per the real thing, but I'll need to remind myself how its done. It was a few years ago, but im pretty sure its not as simple as pressing F2, I'll get back to you tomorrow night... :)

I'm not sure how effective F2 is for reverse on the Andover. I think Fraser warned in the manual that keystrokes for some operations are not reliable. If you move your mouse over the FP stops and flick the mousewheel one way or t'other, this will work.. in 2D anyway. Not sure about VC operation but the same principle should apply :) Will have a look in the VC when I get a mo but I don't usually fiddle too much in there.. I get lost using the POV button

EDIT: The reverse function definitely works ok in 2D but I'm not getting the same response in the VC. Could be me mind you.. as I said above, I don't fiddle much in VC's :worried:

I have the 'reverse' action mapped in the sim to a joystick button. I use the command 'throttle decrease quickly' with the slider set to the right. I mainly fly jets and it works fine for that but I also fly the 748 and it stands it on its nose so I'm sure it's reversing something

Ian :)

I've not tried it in FSX Ian as I'm still nursing a new install. I ran it up in FS9 this morning and the old F2 didn't like it much (decrease throttle quickly or whatever it's called). I use it on jets fine but the 780 didn't like it.. the FPS twitched but didn't actually engage. You know it's happening when it's happening (other than by standing it on it's nose  ) as the rpm's increase to around 10.5k from closed throttle :) When I'm a little more confident FSX isn't going to roll-over on me again, I'll try it again but I got cocky after a couple of days with everything running smoothly and dumped in a load of AI and installed a load of aircraft and the SOB started spitting errors at me :| I since have it running well again and am currently doing a round the UK tour in the Mossie. So far.. so good :)

Odd that key map works on your setup but nothing surprises me these days.. pc's do whatever the hell they want anyway

EDIT: OK.. I've been brave and pulled the 780 into FSX. As in FS9, the FPS doesn't work for me using the F2 command (although it works fine on the default 747 I tried). Also, I'm not seeing the control work in VC as it does in 2D (like FS9). However, it works just fine in 2D using the mouse :)

Hi chaps,

Better late than never. I've just had a quick go in FSX using the 2D panel. I was able to take-off from RW01 at Eshott (EG3B in the UK2000 scenery part 3) which is little over 2000ft with a default full load (albeit backed right up to the edge of the runway) and also land on the same runway having just done a circuit using the reverse pitch, so it looks like the trick is to use the 2D panel and all will be well

I saw that and thought no.. I'll let it go  You could have done the cct by road I guess

Talking of reverse pitch.. I noticed the other day that the CS C130 will actually reverse from a standstill which is handy. It will also naff off at great speed on closed throttle if you don't hold it on the brakes.. not so handy 8)

*-) My Brit and Cl-44 both reverse from standstill as you've no doubt noticed Dave :poke:
