Hello Ben. I'm viewing this on my iPad at a resolution of 2048x1536 and I really like the layout with the profile info on the left. I haven't got my laptop switched on at the mo so I can't tell you if I'm getting the mobile site or the standard one. There's no extra 'm' in the address as is usually the case for a mobile site.
Anyway, Peter's two images at 900 pixels wide extend beyond the forum frame right over to the right edge and are not clipped. I'll have to take a look at the laptop in the moring to compare.
Thank you.
Ian

Hi Ian,
Your definately getting the mobile site then. Its strange the the servers detect the iPad as a mobile devive when its clearly not. There doesn't need to be an "m" in the site name to view mobile sites, its actually detecting a string in the browser settings, so the browser on the iPad is telling the webserver to display the mobile site (if one exists). There should be a setting to switch this string off somewhere on the ipad. Who would want their ipad2 to be sending the mobile website string
On my phone I have the option to default to mobile sites (if they are available) or leave it classic. this effectively switches the mobile browser flag on and off

I use the default iPad safari browser and like most of the Apple stuff, there are very few opportunities to fiddle with settings! I can't see any way of directing the browser to the full website.
This is what annoys me about Apple, the way they retain control and strictly limit how you can customise your device. On the other hand it does make it secure and simple to use.
The hardware is superb, though, and there are no serious challengers in the tablet market. But if an Android or Windows8 tablet should come along of the same standard as the iPad3, I'd drop Apple immediately

Cheers, Ben. I've tried a couple of other browsers but Safari is the most useable on the iPad. However, I've noticed that the BB does have a toggle switch at the bottom of the page. Full or mobile site so you can switch to your preference once you've been directed.
Have you changed the view again? I'm now getting a very basic mobile view that doesn't show the user profile or avatar. The site I saw before had those but on the left hand side.

Hi Ian,
The basic mobile one is the one you should have been getting. I'll play about with the styles until we find one that works. Its definitely the Prosilver style that's croping the images, so I'll try and fix it.

Hi Ben.This morning I noticed when Ifirst accessed this site with the Ipad it came up in mobile mode which I'd not seen before. After switching to full mode I checked the pics which I posted yesterday in E & S and noticed, when in full mode, the loss on the right of the pics.In mobile mode the full frame was there.
I prefer the full mode because as Ian said, there are no Avatars etc in mobile mode.I looked for the Ipad's resolution setting but didn't find it.Must look again later.
This is being written on my pc and I see the full frame on those pics using this.Cheers Ben

I have the RH side of pics missing on my PC.
The only way I can see the whole pic is by reducing the page size but then I can't read the text.
This is on all my machines, this new PC being 1440 x 900
On the one above I don't see the light to the right of the runway on normal viewing.
Does everyone actually see the whhole pic or do they just think they do because thay see more??
This is the reason I still use 800 x 600 for anything I post.

Hi Chaps,
Yep, I understand. In short the "style" in full mode is called "ProSilver" and this is the default style for phpBB. We haven't changed it. It seems that when this style is used and the screen resolution is small is (say 1024 x 768) the images are getting cropped instead of being resized. It seems with the other styles (including the mobile one, they get resized. In fact, with the mobile one, it seems you can click on images resized images and it will expand them to full size.
either way, I need to try and find a template that gives us the "full" website but that doesn't crop images.

Hi Ben that makes sense as there is a piece of "unused" white to the right of the pic, so the
space at least is there.
I take it then, when I reduce the page, the elements reduce but the pic window remains the same so the pic now fits?
Frustrating isn't it.
I'm not in anyway complaing, just taking the opportunity to tag onto this to mention it
