I am perfectly happy with my Blackberry Playbook and it cost less than a quarter of the price of an iPad.

It would be nice if Apple dropped their pricing in line with the drop in their Quality Control standards.
There was a time when you could justify the price premium, because you knew it would all just work. Not any more 8) :(

As far as Apple tablets are concerned, they are expensive but apparently the profit margin is quite low which means that their competitors have to sell new products at cost or less to try and get a toehold in the market.

This is my third tablet and I've kept up to date with comparative reviews. Most reviewers agree that the iPad is still the one to beat, despite being forced to use the awful iTunes software to organise the content. But once you've got your software loaded it's a joy to use.

The one single thing that makes the iPad3 a game changer is the 'retina' display at 2048x1536 pixels - four times as many as the iPad2. It's no good trying to describe it - if you haven't seen it, pop into an electronics store. I used to love my iPad2 and everybody admired the crisp clear display. Once I saw the retina display and then went back to my iPad2 it looked fuzzy and I thought I hadn't got my glasses on! I upgraded within two weeks and now use the iPad3 to read everything. My paper, novels, magazines, work manuals, flight sim manuals, Internet pages etc. However large you increase the font you can't see any pixelation, it's perfectly crisp to the eye (retina) and until the others catch up there's no competition.

Apple maps has relocated Portsmouth to Havant. That's clever.

This must be the digital equivalent of removing the signposts in WW2 to confuse the invaders! :agree: EricT
