Dave, and the rest of the RC gang will get a kick watching how the plane is flown after the pilot. "Billy Bob" jumps from the plane.

Oh, and Ian! I doesn't crash as expected. So there's that to look forward too.

Lets hope the remote pilot flies it better that the previous exercise with a DC6 - that one did not crash correctly!!! I think it was a fuel ignition test though...
I wonder if the remote pilots practiced using their target drones?

Well the Cat's out of the bag now, Eric!

Before any-one comes up with any remarks I do NOT read or subscribe to this paper but it was the first one I came across showing pictures of the crash now in a real emergency situation surely no-one would even attempt this crash landing with gear down onto sand!!! Also was the aircraft flown in flat i.e. level as apposed to a slight flare to ease the impact? As I am at work when it is shownit would be interesting to hear from fellow armchair pilots whether or not the 'Crash' was made as realistic as possible!!

Well chaps, think I owe an appology of some sorts Should have read the write-up properly for it says

The jet was then slammed into the ground by remote control in a “high vertical load impact” where the plane falls short of the runway.

It hit the ground at 140mph – the speed of impact in 80% of crashes – while 24 cameras recorded the result.

So in effect it was on approach to an airport in some country surrounded by desert and undershot the runway!!! Ok, I now go and

That RC setup was poop. My Champ has a range over 185ft.. the bigger stuff is 2500-3000ft

Nice to see him drop it short. I'm not the only one then
