Are they really that mullered? It's a shame that it's just money that will ground it, it's not like it's falling apart :-(
Yes. I believe the number of airworthy spare engines without needing a Euromillions win to pay RR to make any others airworthy is in the vicinity of zero. I can see the logic of not spending £200000 on a wing upgrade when the next cheeky sparrow to get lost in the intake will instantly ground the jet anyway.

Very true.

Maybe some day the money will be there and she can be flown again.

What they have done with the Vulcan has been magnificent - the whole project has defied gravity in every sense. It will be a sad day when she touches down for the last time

...but then we can start donating money to get 'Just Jane' back in the air !

I doubt the UK will ever see another complex airframe restored on the civil register. The obvious ones would be one of the nimrods, or more noteworthy would be Canopus, but the appetite and money just aren't there anymore in Europe as it would need a lot of support from the likes of BAe or EADs and they both have bigger fish to fry.

Indeed. Then again, anyone thinking about that only needs to look at Air Atlantique bringing back the airworthy Shackleton a decade or so ago. Did BAES not essentially put the shackles on that?

Not deliberate, but subtle I admit!
