The shortness of the runway ( I think about 1400metres ) is compounded by the density altitude at this time of year . At an elevation of almost 2600 feet AMSL , and with afternoon temperatures of 30C or so , the actual approach speed would be very considerably higher than the IAS . There is also a suggestion that storm cell activity had created a sudden switch in wind direction about the time of this approach.
