I like to think I have a healthy dose of self preserving cynicism Eddie :)

Tongue in cheek half sarcasm aside, I agree with you. The dedication and hard work shown daily by, but not limited to, operational members of all of the federated ranks astounds me.

I work with people who, sometimes quite literally, give their all to the job, and by extension the public they serve.

I do have issues with some things, especially what I often see as knee jerk and poor policy decisions by senior management, but realise as you say that the true blame often lies with the politicions (and to a large degree sometimes the media).

I'm immensely proud of what I do and I have promised myself that no matter what political pressure I'm placed under I shall never forget that oath I stood in that court and made, which is probably why you'll never ever see me with a crown or too many pips on my shoulders...

Anyway, I'm just through the door from a busy Saturday night shift. Time to pour a large glass of Jameson and head off to bed!

And on a lighter note, considering the chicken walking down the road call mentioned in the original post, I was once sent to an emu walking along the street. Expecting it to be a load of rubbish I went on my own and was indeed met with an emu walking along the middle of the street!

Now I'm not at all easily scared, I've come across and been involved in some pretty nasty incidents in the past. But bugger me that bird was nasty! I seem to recall locking myself in the panda at one point until someone came to save me!

I'm convinced it was trying to peck my eyeballs out!

Likewise, 2 1/4 hours late after sorting a nasty accident on the moors in the snow. VERY cold and wet!

I agree wholeheartedly with everything you've just said by the way,

Now night-night!! :guinn:
