Tongue in cheek half sarcasm aside, I agree with you. The dedication and hard work shown daily by, but not limited to, operational members of all of the federated ranks astounds me.
I work with people who, sometimes quite literally, give their all to the job, and by extension the public they serve.
I do have issues with some things, especially what I often see as knee jerk and poor policy decisions by senior management, but realise as you say that the true blame often lies with the politicions (and to a large degree sometimes the media).
I'm immensely proud of what I do and I have promised myself that no matter what political pressure I'm placed under I shall never forget that oath I stood in that court and made, which is probably why you'll never ever see me with a crown or too many pips on my shoulders...
Anyway, I'm just through the door from a busy Saturday night shift. Time to pour a large glass of Jameson and head off to bed!
