Ian , sounds like it could have been a mate of ours , who also did something similar in Antigua . Like the rest he too survived to retirement . Your photo takes the mind back to 200 yds previous where the old compass swinging bay ( sin bin ) was . We were sat there having missed our slot ! Looked up to see bits of papier- mache floating on the wind . Egyptair A340's winglet had hit 757 G-BIKG's rudder . Shuttle ''Semolina'' (7L) to LHR gnd '' I think something has hit us '' ! Eygptair '' I'm on the yellow line , and it's only a wing tip , so am good to go '' . He was too until a firetruck parked in front of him . ...... Block 18 was a new fast exit/ entry to 27R , had only just opened .. holding point markings to give runway clearance were in place ; but no-one had thought of the tails impinging the taxiway behind .
Odd thing was the missus was in rear cabin crew seat on KG . '' Big thump , a/c jumped sideways , so I was on the blower to the Nigels '' ... bit along the line of car insurance claims .. ''I was stationary when this tree leapt out and hit me ''.

No, Joe! Not those Nigels

Most British pilots are named Nigel, so most airline people refer to flight crew collectively as 'The Nigels'. It prevents any confusion.

Ian :)

Interesting. I'll have to try that out on friends at work...although it'll probably lose a bit in translation.

Oh , I Seee, ... you're right. That's much less confusing - having all the pilots named the same is a good idea.
Like George Forman (former two-time...as he was for doing heavyweight Champion of the world) said. "When ya have a good name, why not pass it around". And so, all his children were named George Forman.
yeah. :agree:
He even had a sandwich grill ,.. thingy - named after himself, as well as other kitchenary applian ces. :| 8)

... were am I going with this.... :wall:

Many years ago, thirty I reckon, a neighbor of mine was a Joe. And being I never met one I didn't like, we became friends.
His father was also named Joe, and Joes' Mom's (Rebecca) brother , (which is his uncle) was a, You guessed it, Joe too.

Well, there were occasions when the for of us Joe's were in the house at the same time. Not confusing to us,
But* to Rebecca,.... welll ..
Whenever she would call out "Joe?" from the kitchen, we (us Joe's) would reply In unison "What?"

"Not you!"

:S

And then we would laugh  ... then she'd get PO'd at our charade ... :worried: and it wasn't fun any more. :|
