It's hard to resist a browser with the potential to banjax every last one of my comms devices with a single update, but as I can manage without that I will stay with PaleMoon, a Firefox clone with all the too-clever-by-half stuff stripped out. When I finally gave up on Firefox, I looked at K-Meleon but there was one critical (for me) thing which it would not do at that time. Also tried Chrome, but I didn't like the way it went about its business - I expect browsers to go where I tell them, without asking me to confirm because they have decided I really meant something else.

Hi Ian,

Another thought - what programs are you using to edit photos and video that makes you need to stay with XP?

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, but maybe some newer alternatives will do the same.

Ian
It's not just video and photo editing, it's a few programs (and other stuff) I use that I will have a need for a while to come.

And with the ability to configure this lappy for two internal HHD's or two batteries, or DVD RW etc etc.

But I thank you for your interest in helping, I surely do. :)

Anyway ...

Good to see Mark, It's been awhile mate. Hope all is well.

thanks for the Imput fellas.

Cheers

Just on my desktop now and having a look at what browsers I have installed.

Other than the obvious MS IExplorer, Chrome and Firefox I have.

Opera
Pale Moon
Safari
K-Meleon

The other one I couldn't remember is Lunascape6. This is a multi-engine broswer, you can use it with the Gecko engine like Firefox & clones or swtich the engine to Trident (iE) or Webkit. Useful if some websites don't render properly in Gecko or vice versa. http://www.lunascape.tv/

Didn't Safari stop support for Windows.. or any of Apple's older OS's for that matter?

I switched from Firefox to Chrome on my PC and I'm quite happy with that...It is fast and goes straight where I want. I use Safari on my iPad and I'm very happy with that. I also use an app called FingerPrint on my iPad...It allows me to Print to my Epson Colour Laser printer as long as it and my PC are switched on...Is is not an AirPrinter but FingerPrint uses my PC through WiFi as a server and prints from my iPad :)

Hi Airboatr,

Glad to help. I have a suggestion. When XP is no longer supported, disconnect it from the web. If you use it online, you will be vulnerable to the bad guys.

I still use my XP computer for Combat Flight Simulator. My son told me what to buy to connect it to my Win7 desktop so I could use CFS on the desktop's 22-in. monitor. It's spectacular!
