I'm on the 'Pro' side on this too. As a serving member of the Armed Forces when she came to power, she won my vote easily by upping our pay and then some

Prior to this, it was abysmal.. believe me!
Don't know about that Dave.......Being single, living in a block and being given this wonderful pay-rise only to find that the RAF were going to charge us for our accommodation as well as food!!.......after those deductions my rise ended up ony a few pounds better off........before it was £9 a week after the rise and following deductions I was left with £11 a week
Maggie did well on some counts but one of the worst was privitising the utility companies....Gas,Water,Electricity should all have been kept in
public ownership, all that privitisation has done is fed the fat cat (foreign) companies as well as the investors and squeezed the consumer dry!!

Some of us say that privatisation has been a bad thing ( I did too at one point) but I'm now minded that although there have been some failings, much has been achieved that wouldn't have happened under public ownership because it would have cost 10 times to improve under public ownership compared to what it costs privately.

She's been out of office for some time now.

Agree!

Yes I am a Tory voter.

So was I until the current incumbents started making such a pigs ear of it.

She was certainly Marmite, you either loved her or hated her... Personally I thought she was the best PM I have known and was head and shoulders above the ones since, of all parties. TB, GB and DC were/ are in it for themselves; Maggie was in it for the country.
Doubt we'll see another like her!!!

I feel sorry for your loss Nige

The Navy did things differently to both the RAF and Army.. they probably still do due to the nature of what we do and how we do it. We had to pay accommodation when ashore at a shore establishment but the amount of times we spent living ashore were few and far between. You didn't pay for accom onboard ship

Yes.. there are certain obvious inconveniences attached to living onboard ship.. beside the loud flies

As we always used to say.. that's life in a blue suit or equally so.. you shouldn't have joined up if you couldn't take a joke

Should have joined the Navy then?
Maggie was in it for the country.

A tough character for tough times.
Nobody likes it when their pocket is hit, but responsible governments have to take a stand.
Another one bites the dust.
Unfortunately, globalisation is wrecking it for everyone.
I hear this morning that "bitcoins" (on-line currency) have increased in value by some thousands of percent.
This really seems to be taking the fictional wealth of our ailing financial system to even more ludricrous levels.
Forget bitcoin, this virtual currency doubles your money every month

I wish that were true for the real Brit coins, every time I look to bringing some pension money over like this month (It being Tax time and all) the pound takes a nosedive against the $. Happens all the time around the 6th, I think they are watching me and the UK economy is tied into me somehow.
