Hi Paul,

Sorry, I confused things. I know the mouse wheel you mean, I was just meaning (as an aside) that the little mouse stick is logically the wrong way round (for me anyway)

I've just managed to assign the mouse wheel on the throttle natively using the FSX control settings. Whats annoying with the throttle is that the two wheels below the display panel can't be assigned in FS. They show up in the control panel when you calibrate it, but there seems to be no way to allocate them to a function in FS :dunno:

Apologies Paul, I must have had the "use mouse wheel" for trim checked in FSUIPC... its getting late

Back again. I'm finding the best way is to clear the config from the X52 profile so as it doesn't send keystrokes. this way when you go into the FSX controller configuration it actually sees the keys as buttons rather than the keyboard input that Saitek software sends. The one thing I have realised though, at least I think I have, is that my MFD isn't working as it should. I found a web page last night that iplies you could change your radio settings using the MFD display and the buttons below it. The two roller wheels below my mfd do nothing at all, other than if you push down on the PG Up Pg Dn roller it alternates from clock to timer. Am I missing a trick here? *-)

Ben, I'm pretty sure that the autopilot actually flies the aeroplane by using TRIM...It certainly was the case in FS9 and I expect it is the same in FSX.

I use the hat next to the "Fire" button for trim.... more intuitive, most jets have the electric trim on the yoke rather than the throttle. Like you, the slider for sppedbrakes/spoilers and the wheel on the E button as a tiller.

It is the same in FSX. Try putting a plane into AP on ALT hold then reduce power to stall levels and watch the trim wheel spin as the AP tries to maintain the set ALT.
