Did it fly over Weybridge, or Wisley? I live near there, and I heard a very noisy aircraft which I couldn't actually see. The sky was clear of Heathrow traffic at the time, and I thought that it might be something military. Didn't think of the VC10.
I worked in the VC10 wing shop in 1960, and saw many of them test flying from Wisley. It's been a fantastic success, and earned a place in aviation history.

More memories - 511 flyer - I finished my apprenticeship in '59 in the mould loft & then for the next 18 month worked on various bits there of the VC10, before moving onto the TSR2 design office. Happy days!
