It's sometimes a bit overused and occasionally misused, but if there's anyone who deserves to have "had a good innings..." in their obituary I'd say Ian there had the right & privilege to say so in spades, what a life experience...
If I had a smilie taking his hat off I'd use it, I'll have to settle for

and hope your doing fine wherever you are now Ian...

Just back from leave and thus catching up .
Hope the last year passed as quickly for Ian as for the rest of us , and it's suitable time of the year to raise a glass on Remembrance Day .
Coincidentally we had met at work in '83 , and got reintroduced through this forum . Indeed I was privileged to meet up with Ian again one sunny day last September ; to reminisce , catch up with 30 years , and generally chat about you blokes behind your backs

. Although he kept us entertained , informed , educated . He thought he received more than he gave .... I disagreed .
