Thanks for that - the concept of a 'sale' had completely eluded me. 8)

The premise for this thread is the sudden emergence, in Britain, of a sale the day after an American public holiday.

New ideas on exactly what Black Friday might be, and how it may have originated:

Not from me Joe, and I'm sure not from anyone who has enjoyed the hospitality of the United States. It was a pleasure to induce a monumental hangover in company with your countrymen at Gettysburg last year.

Just keep Black Friday to yourselves, okay ?

Hi Paul
You knew ,of course, I was just kidding.

Would you be kind enough, and I know you are, not to lump us all into the same basket.
Brits (The English too.. cause there is a difference) ain't the only ones with Scruples you know. ;)

There were a great many people here in the US (note how I worded that) who refuse to support such a feeding frenzy of the greedy. .. I passed up the battery... without regret.

I do understand though, the difference from your perspective. You like what you've got and want to keep it that way.... as you should.

One other thing I should say.
I hold very dear the friends I've made here over the years. Those passed on.. Ian Middleton ,
Leif ( my archnemesis) Harding. :poke: yo Leif)
:|
even Mike... - although we started a bit on the Rocks have become like brothers of another mother) :wasntme:

 I tried to dead pan that but I just can't help my self

Anyways .
Cheers.

Joe

Joe, of course. Black Friday is the exception , not the rule. Umm...although maybe you can keep Paris Hilton to yourselves aswell. And on that note, why would anyone name a child Paris, when they have the surname Hilton ? I'm pretty damned sure if my surname was Travel-Inn, mum would NOT have christened me Premier.

there is a well known battery business in town that's called Beiter Battery (Pronounced Biter)
the owners name is Richard Beiter.
but every one calls him Dick
