Rgr that Eric ;) I can't recall the exact reasons for the 748's withdrawal now but something is telling me it was down to maintenance or lack of by the 'then' operator. It was uneconomic for them to get the airframes where they needed to be (probably not possible either) so the plug was pulled on the lot. I think that's it.. something like that anyway :)

The 748 doesn't have an APU

Edit
ok I have the same symptoms ...
guess it's the ground power stuck on.... flip the switch and it keeps running
Hi Cyril

Yes I was incorrect saying APU.
....
from a non running setting -engines and systems cold/off
including the ground power,
move the Amp/Volt switch to either "B" (Battery) setting,.. the Voltmeter needle moves
Move the selector to G (Generator) the ammeter needle doesn't move.
so perhaps the ground power isn't disconnecting.... or something else, as Dave suggested.
Or what Ben said.

Cheers

Joe..

The generators run off the engines and won't indicate unless the engines are running. :)

So.
Why the sound continues.. I'm guessing it's the ground power not disconnecting with the movement of the switch.
I'm not seeing how the inverter would be connected to it.

If it were an issue with the sound file not stopping with the switch, why is the meter detecting voltage?

:dunno:

I may be wrong Joe but I think the sound is purely for effect.. a bit of interest. I've not known a model which uses this file go completely silent. Having had a look in the sound folder for the 748.. I think the sound concerned is FH227_Avionics and I really don't think it is linked to any switch or condition. Easy thing to do if you don't like it is to rename that file or edit it out in the sound.cfg :)

Is it a limitation in fs9? If props, engines, reverse thrust etc have sound that start and stop with a switch. It would be reasonable for the sound in question to work like that.

I've considered messing around with it , killing it. But I don't hear it actually. (Normally)
It's ..jump in running and jump out running for me.

I'm much the same Joe.. why have a PNF and bark yourself  I'm certain what you suggest could be done.. it's more a case of no one has ever done it. I've no idea why. Maybe developers prefer adding clicks to switches :dunno: It's possible that you can't assign 2 sounds to an event.. I really don't know :dunno: From what I remember of years tinkering on the Vanguard.. you can't turn all the inverters off. Why would you want to really.. they supply power to the things you want to make the thing go! So.. as soon as the battery is flicked on (or ground supply).. you get a background whine as the gyro's spin up and the instruments become live. It's been a few years now so I may be wrong but I don't think so. We had no GPU and had to start off the batteries but it's possible the battery switch had 3 positions.. battery, ground and off. Actually.. this makes sense as you'd want to leave the aircraft electrically dead on exit. From what I remember.. only 2 ccts were constantly live.. battery switch (on/off/ground) and the front pax door on those aircraft fitted with airstairs. The switch was in the front gear bay. Yup.. sounds right though I digress.. a lot!

Thank you your all your replies!
It's really kind
I must admit that's a minor problem compared to the very high quality of models
Thanks once again
