Yuck - hate rats - had one recently make me yelp like a schoolgirl when I went to light the BBQ - though I'm guessing ratty was just a startled when the propane went WOOF as it does and singed his keister.

I just had my own similar but not quite as dramatic episode. Tonight I went out to light up the grill but there is no 'wush', it does not start up. Is the fuel tank empty? So I open the lid and below the grill is something brown that is moving, so a rat then jumps out the bottom of the grill and then either under the deck/house or out into the yard. I was really glad at that point the tank was empty as I would not want 'Rat Flambé' running under the house.'
