You know what I mean Mike. Today's "alternative comedy" - very aptly named - surely an alternative to comedy, being in my mind certainly not funny. Rank bad language and pure filth.
The oldies could get plenty of laughs without resorting to this. They could make reference with word play, and leave it to your own mind to fill in the blanks.

True, Graham, I did know exactly what you meant.
I am appalled seeing "comedians" walking on stage, uttering repeat foul words, and receiving roaring applause; it's just NOT funny.
