Re: Shooting the Moon
Thanks for the prod, Kevin.
I do have their software; 3 parts IIRC, but have hitherto only used Nikon Transfer 2.
I'll delve into the editing a bit more, though getting a well framed shot in the first place may be a more meaningful priority

Re: Shooting the Moon
Congratulations to your daughter on her work, Dave; those are as good as I've ever seen in magazines and books.DaveG wrote: ↑06 Feb 2022, 21:02The moon shots were taken with a Canon DSLR ( not sure which model off the top of my head), modded to have the infrared filter removed, with a 400mm f4 lens.
The others were with the DSLR attached to a telescope. Again if have to look up which model it is. The images are built up of hundreds of individual shots taken over the course of several hours then stacked and processed.
Thanks for sharing them.
Stacking is something I only heard about a couple of years ago.
Mrs A is a huge follower of nature photography, and we discovered that the stunning in-focus detail on spider and insect shots was done by stacking.

Thanks for the comments on Chloe's photographs. She's got a good eye, much better than her old dad! If you'd like to see some more of her pictures, she's got an online portfolio here, although it's a bit out of date and doesn't include any astro photography.
