Saw video of jets landing at Heathrow with the high crosswinds on the news earlier. Wow - everyone take care out there. I don't ever remember winds that strong when I lived in the UK.

Thanks, Nigel. Whilst Storm Eunice has now passed (and record winds of
122 mph !!! were recorded), there is still a lot of bad weather over the Atlantic heading east -
This is a screenshot, taken from the weather website Windy.com (
https://www.windy.com). I can't recommend this website highly enough. It covers the whole world and you can even click on a little aeroplane icon (bottom right) and then on any airport to get a METAR (weather readout) for that airport. Not to mention selecting wind, rain, fog, snowfall and any number of other parameters.

Kevin, I'm glad that you thought to stock up on essentials
I was in the Scouts when I was younger and their motto is 'be prepared'!

Windy.com is great. Only found it recently.

Kevin, windy.com is great and I have been using it for a while. Windy here today (50 mph) although nothing as severe as what has happened on your side of the pond!

Storm Eunice has now hit mainland Europe. Sadly, deaths have been reported from several countries.

After being battered by Dudley and Eunice, they should have named this new storm Feck.
