My mother comes from there. She now lives in Winwick.

I found the engines sheds at Dallam more interesting than Burtonwood. My grandfather was an engine driver so I got lots of trips round the shed and cab rides, on steam engines of course

Great photos, post as many as you have.

I live about 2 miles north of Winwick at Golborne, about 3/4 miles from Haydock Park Racecourse with its landing strip in middle.

VC10, I worked at Dallam sheds for a short while.
At the time,I lived at Winwick Quays, just behind the Fiat distribution factory.
That was when Warrington new town was just beginning to grow.

I can still taste that wonderfull Burtonwood bitter.

I take it the Gannet was on Hermes prior to my time on board when it had a ramp fitted !

Wow were gannets still used in 1981, my pic was on HMS Ark Royal in 1960.

PS About Warrington, I worked at Fiats in the early 1970's.
Their depot is a lot smaller now.

Closest I ever got to a Sea Vixen just being blown over on the Dummy Deck at Culdrose during training as an Aircraft Handler. I was at HMS Gannet when the gate guard Gannet was flown in during the late 70s.

I wish I had a camera then, isn't hindsight a wonderful thing!
