What ya get ?, well like the Seaking really, good externals, workable VC, aint no Nemeth designs VC or functionality, just good fun externally and high FPS in VC.
Pay £11 and you get £11 worth of model.

I see your point, doesn't seem bad value.

There's a RN flavoured one on Hover Control............
It's not up to the same standard as the Alpha vers. but it is RN, and free.

Tks Michael (and Steve too for that link)
Totally understood on the model differences. I was trying my best to get DaveG to morph the Rapide into a Dragon yesterday but the more we both looked and despite what impressions a quick glance will give, they are in almost
every respect, totally different shapes. I think we finally agreed that the front engine cowling could be used and that was it!!

Never mind.. I may still add the Alpha Merlin to my collection

Michael,
Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not dissing the Merlin and if the Cormorant project wasn't out there I'd be queueing up with the others. But it is and I feel it will meet my needs better.
It's not a case of freeware vs payware. I have over 2 gb of A/S stuff, including that superb Seaking; I also have (for example) both AS Canberras, as well as all the Holker ones etc. Itosan's Swift was trashed the instant the AS version was released; but an AS Hunter would probably not be purchased, for obvious reasons.

Andy, thats quite all right old bean, l tend to take the view of that chap on the telly, it does what it sez on the tin.
No point beating about the bush, your only going to get found out when they get there grubby hands on it, l'd rather be honest and perhaps put off the odd customer than have a disgruntled one who didnt get what he wanted.
I didnt do the Vc on this one, l think Dano did, same on the Seaking which Phil did, l only made the exteriors and to be frank both VCs suit me just fine, l'm not a real inside type of guy, be it VC or 2D, but some are and thats there biscuit and l'm not one to disuade or argue against them

.
l'm sure it'll get much critism coming after some of the recent super models but it wasnt made to compete with them, just made to have fun

.
Not sure on the Navy version, same for the postponed Seaking pack 3 which had the HH and S-61 versions lot of work adapting them, though l may do an all new Seaking for FSx with a full VC for those that like that sort of thing, dunno, may just stick to whats already brewing

.

having talked to a very friendly chap over at rafvirtual, before i quit. he was saying the canadian version is far better and they were trying to get the three engines working together through fs9. alpha also has good stuff, but being over here my money would be on the canadian version, now if there was a rn version i would be swayed a little.
i have alpha seaking and was pleased with the outside, not to pleased with the cockpit. not much action in there.

According to the Alphasim forums, the model is oversize by about 14'.
They are issuing a re-scaled model.

That is correct, the model is correct in Gmax but in sim grows by about 10%, the export is fine and three PCs all compiled the same extra size model, most bizzare.
End result, one part in the model had an erronous scale applied which threw it all out, this has been rectified, recollect now to get the correct sized Merlin, cfg has been ammended to suit as well.
