Hi Eddie

If I were you I would run all my anti-virus and addware scans and see if there is anything in there.

Maybe a good starting point.

defently sounds like a cleaning is in order
run adaware and spybot
then in internet options
delete your cookies
delete history
delete files
the dialog box will pop up and prompt you to
delete all offline files >>check that ,,click ok
then go to system tools and do a disk clean up
restart
then run your FS programs
file duplicator and
Flight Sim maintainance

and have him exorsize them demons out!

do you have the ie7 beta. I do and that caused FS9 to crash every time I opened the kneeboard. Microsoft has a fix procedure posted, I just can't remember what it tells you to do.... :think:

Hi guys,

I am always very spyware concious and frequenly run SPYBOT and ADWARE and also PCTOOLS PC DOCTOR which I paid quite handsomely for!

Anyway these tasks don't seem to be doing the trick. The robbing bar stewards!!!
I'll wait and see..

Sounds rather like the problems I was experiencing a few weeks back. After 2 Windows reinstalls and numerous software permutations it turned out to be down to RAM going u/s.

Hi Andy funny you should mention that. I placed a stick of RAM in last year and these problems only appeared since then. I might remove it, clean the PC up with the can of air and see how I get on.

Eddie, removing RAM actually cures a lot of probs. I had a recurring BSOD problem in XP only a few weeks ago which was cured by removing a stick of RAM. While you're at it:

- Give the PC a clean, lots of dust doesnt help, gets in the way of connections or may even be conducting!

- Check your RAM is correctly configured and in the correct banks (its ok refer to mobo manual, they're not just for newbies

)

- Also check to see if it has recommendations about not mixing different manufacturers or speeds of RAM

- The day mine crashed was an especially hot day, I ran it for the rest of the evening with the case open and it was much more stable

Also years ago a friend had a highly unstable computer. He worked in a computer shop and thus considered his knowledge to be pretty good. He tried everything to fix it and had got nowhere. I removed one memory module and bingo, all worked fine

The RAM i inserted was a mirror copy of the current stick giving me 1Gig. TBH the PC was'nt noticibly any better with it in, and FS9 did'nt really give me any improvements. I might go back to 512 for a bit and see if thats the prob.

My old PC was upped from 512 to I GB

The new one came fitted and I can honestly say I have never noticed any difference. :roll:

Whatever the advantage is invisible :think:

I went from 512MB to 768 by inserting the 256MB from my previous PC, possibly a dubious idea. I also assumed that bank 1 was the first bank (when actually its bank 3 - go figure :think: ) so two problems straight off. Now up to 1GB and not really a lot of difference. Still get memory warnings occasionally when doing photo manipulations
