BP are doing their usual which is about 3 - 5 pence more expensive.

It would seem to be the same everywhere - all those poor sods who bought oil futures at $75 a barrel 6 months ago cos theyre greedy sods are now finding they are all taking a bath (in sweet crude) to the tune of about 15 dollars a barrell......my heart bleeds for them...NOT (the reason futures went so high here in the states is a bunch of weather weinies (meteorologists to you folks over there) predicted (incorrectly) the worst year for Hurricanes ever which would wipe out all the refineries on the Gulf Coast -- The words Ooopps and greedy barstewards come to mind)

Well lets hope the prices continue to come down. Its just takes the p*ss in this country in relation to fuel duty. :curse:

In the past when petrol prices have gone sky high there were demonstrations, Heavy Goods going slow on our roads but recently there has been nothing from anyone!!!

What infuriates me the most is when petrol prices do increase dramatically the Goverments' response is that the petrol companies are to blame for the hikes, they totally disregard that when prices do increase the Governments share in petrol tax and VAT also increases so in effect, we are hit not once but three times over!!!

Brown could quite easily reduce the burden for motorists in these situations by reducing tax on fuels but unfortunately this would never happen.

For those who do not realise how much of your money goes in taxes just as an example, if petrol is 90p a Litre:

Petrol Duty 47.1p

[Product 23.2p

VAT 13.4p

Retailer/Delivery 6.3p

Just shows how much the Government or rather Gordon Brown rips us off!!

Hehehe. I can remember the days when petrol stations asked us not to buy by the gallon, but buy by the pound (£)!

Interesting breakdown there Nigel. Naturally the Government get the biggest slice but I never knew the Garages got so little.
