Well, it has been a few years since I dabbled with the plastic, but I don't remember Revell as being quite that bad. :think: Certainly when they bought out Matchbox many of the kits resurfaced in the new boxes and, let's face it, NOT in several garish colours.

No, no - I quite agree with you. Don't get me wrong - Revell Germany do produce top notch kits these days. I made their 1/144 Hunter last year, and it is really nice for such a small scale. And the Matchbox moulds are being kept available eg they've just re-issued the Halifax (which I'm very tempted by)
Having said this - my heart sinks - the Halifax of course is branded as a Revell Kit. I wouldn't really like the same to happen to the Airfix kits - on the whole it would be nice if Airfix could be kept British and I think Hornby would do them proud.

Yes there was. And a Henry VIII. And a Queen Elizabeth I among others - part of the 'Historical Figures' series. There were also odd things like garden birds and a boy at school told me he'd built an Airfix model of a lawnmower, but I think he was making that up

They also did a skeleton and a series of caricature's.
Their trackside stuff was sold off years ago...there was some very useful stuff there.

I believe they do. I have seen things like the village pub (?) and Oakham station under Dapol. The only thing Dapol didn't acquire was the Airfix control tower which was still in production when they ceased trading.

The control tower wasn't apart of the track setup and was released after they stopped selling most of the railway stuff......I remember at the time the criticism as to why if it was for the aircraft it was made to railway scale.
It's as if the religiously stuck to the OO/HO because it was a building instead of thinking it as an aircraft accessory.
