I think Peter has this shot enlarged on his website. Been a while since I've been there (sorry Peter  ) but it's always worth a look

edit.. it does and it lists that aircraft as a Super Fortress

Chris Trott wrote:The middle pic in that shot Peter, what kind of bomber is that? Can't tell from here if it's a Washington or a Bear...
It's a Super Fortress  ...That's a shot from my gunsight and shows my leader Ralph Hayes ahead there as we make a dummy attack on the bomber.

Is it the B-29 or the B-50?

The B-50 was a Superfortress as well with the larger engines and tall tail that was also used on the C-97 and production Startocruiser

That looked like a B-50.......just wondered

Well, I think it was a B29 Garry...Just looking at the logbook entry, I see that it was in July 1953...I know three of that group of chaps are no more, as I attended their funerals. As for the other four...well it's been a long time and I haven't heard.

Anyway, the date may give a clue to the type

Hard to tell Peter

I thought the tail looked tall but it's probably a standard B-29

Well it has always been in my mind as a B29 and that fin does not look quite as tall as your picture of the B50...Anyway, stirred up some memories.

Incidentally, I took delivery today of a 48th scale plastic kit for a Hunter FGA9...The decals make it H "Hotel" XE655 of 8 Squadron and naturally I want it to be "Echo" XE609 of 208 Squadron. I was wondering if any of you experts would know if my excellent colour laser printer could print on a blank decal sheet without burning the film?

Also, the colours have references like :-

Dark Green

FS 34079

BS 381C/641

Do these references point to Humbrol products or is it some new paint maker?
