Oh my word!!! I thought the Vampire and Whirlwind were exciting but this tops the lot. I can’t tell you how excited I am to hear that there’ll soon be a Hampden available for Flight Sim. For me this one’s an absolute must.

Coincidentally I visited East Kirkby last Wednesday (for Just Jane’s first run of the season) and I was thinking how great it would be to have a Hampden for Flight Sim after viewing the remains of Hampden AE436 (which is slowly being restored).

Growing up in Lincolnshire I’ve always had an interest in Bomber Command and its aircraft. Even today Lincolnshire is positively littered with the remains of wartime airfields (I live just over a mile from the site of one such airfield, from which Hampdens flew).

As a result, all of Bomber Commands aircraft are of great interest me. In the main they are quite well represented in FS with four good Lancasters to choose from, Alphasim’s Halifax and Boston, Ted Cooks Stirling, Whitley, Wellington and Manchester and the AH Mosquito on the way.

But unlucky for me it’s the Hampden that I’ve always particularly wanted. Of the lesser know and often long forgotten pre/early war bombers it’s something of a favourite, it seems such an intriguingly eccentric design. I’d resigned myself to thinking there’d never be one in FS so to see a good one being produced by Alphasim is just fantastic.

I know it’s not the done thing to ask for repaints and normally I don't, but I do hope you’ll excuse me just this once. I’d be eternally grateful if one of our talented resident painters could produce a 44 Squadron repaint who flew from nearby Waddington or 50 Squadron repaint who flew from Skellingthorpe (assuming they aren’t already provided on release).

Hat’s of to Alphasim and thanks for the HU Trev. I’ll be adding this one to my hanger the second it comes out.
