Hi Colin

Yes, I have the Flight 1 Islander, along with the KLN90 working in P3Dv2.
Assuming that you have the Islander installed in FSX, copy the 'Flight One BN-2 islander' folder from the FSX \ SimObjects \ Airplanes folder into the corresponding folder in Prepar3D V2.
Then copy the gauge 'Flight1_BN2_kln90a.gau' from the FSX Gauges folder to that of Prepar3D.
Now the crucial part. To get the gauge working, you must have a copy of the FSX.exe file from the main FSX folder in the main Prepar3D V2 folder.
This has worked for me in Prepar3D V1.4 and V2, although I have had one crash to desktop when trying to close the expanded view of the KLN90 instrument.

Hope this helps

[Edit] - just read on Avsim Unofficial P3D forum that the Flight1 EULA specifically prohibits the use of the BN-2 Islander in anything other than FSX.
So if you are using it in P3D then you are very very very naughty people indeed.

I remember it being said prior to the release of v2 that the need for hardware updates wouldn't be necessary as P3D runs better than FSX straight out of the box. I note now that many are jumping to get new graphics cards to iron out some of the issues with v2. On the forums I visit, the general concensus is to go for something in the region of at least 2gb VRAM.. 4gb would be better :-O Makes me happy I'm struggling with FSX at the moment

I've just installed a 4GB GTX 760 and although P3D uses only about 2GB VRAM, there are still some problems. Hopefully LM will fix it soon

Interstingly, in the same situation, FSX uses only 766MB VRAM.

I agree, Dave - I can run FSX a cinch in most scenarios, but P3Dv2 is taxing my card to the limit, due to its 'mere' 1GB of VRAM.

I did consider this when I upgraded to the GTX560Ti, almost 3 years ago (I thought it was 2 years - isn't it amazing how time flashes by faster, the older one gets? :worried: ) but unfortunately at the time they only did the card with 1GB, so that was it.

I've been scanning the e-shops for my next upgrade bits, which I'll be buying in February, and it's shocking. I want to stick with nVidia and I'd prefer to have more than 2GB of VRAM, but they just don't seem to do 3GB cards. The cost of a decent (GTX type) card is around the £200 mark - which is fine for me, especially considering what we used to pay for top cards (note: top cards are no longer necessarily top of the range cards!) and for much better performance, now, too.

However, the next size up is 4GB plus, and the price suddenly jumps up to the £450-550 range!! No way, Pedro!

Of course, I could grab a couple of 2GB cards for about £180 each and install them together in SLi, but I really don't want the hassles that can go along with that kind of set-up (and I'd need a new PSU as well).

So I'm hoping that in the next few months a few reasonably priced 3 or more GB cards will be around at a reasonable price. I'm never going to pay more than £250 for a card again - got stung once by that in the past and learned my lesson. I'll need such a card for DCS World, too.

It needs to be a GTX card because 1: I've found nVidia to have the better cards and software for the stuff I play/fly etc than AMD (I used to be an ATi fan before the 560Ti) and secondly I want to run 3 monitors from it with their "2D Surround" system.

I'll need to up my 6GB RAM to at least 8GB, too, and I'm planning to go all SSD except for back-up discs. So I won't have much change from £1k. P3D had better run like clockwork then!

Somewhere in the middle lies, dare I say it, the 'ideal' sim.

Hope LM sort it for you George.. and others too of course ;)

John, there are several NVidia 760 that come in the 4GB flavor for less than £250. You certainly don't need to be going anywhere near £400.

George, how are you finding that 760 in FSX, do you think it was worth the upgrade?

Hmm, I paid £225 for a 4GB GTX 760.

Ben,

It was worth the upgrade just for P3D.

I'm sorely tempted, but I get so little sim time these days. Which card did you have before George?
