One regret of mine, not owning a TV, is missing the utterly wonderful Denise Lewis in the commentary studio. I caught snippets of her on BBC iPlayer...she is as intelligent, sparky and personable as ever.

Oh, what a day for the girls yesterday! Three fantastic gold medals for three very different sports. And in each one these amazing youngsters obliterated the best in the world. Stunning performances in Taekwondo, women's boxing and dressage. My favourite is little Nicola Adams the Olympic boxing champion - what a cheerful, smiley, bubbly little thing and so beautiful to watch in the ring. I thoroughly enjoyed that bout and I've never had the slightest interest in boxing before. Yet another gold for Yorkshire, too!

Here's something I've learnt. Dressage was invented by cavalry riders as a means of controlling your horse in battle. It's quite handy if you've got somebody charging at you with a lance if you can get your horse to dance sideways with a nudge of your knee. The dressage moves which look so unnatural are actually completely natural moves that horses do when they are just messing about.
