I’ve just taken delivery of two books ordered from ‘Books etc’ via Amazon. Although I haven’t started to read them yet I know that they will both be very good and of interest to many on here. They are ‘I Have Control’ by Keith Spragg ISBN 978-1-78500-397-4 a pilot’s view of changing airliner technology and ‘Flight From The Croft’ by Bill Innes ISBN 978-1-84995-397-9, a frequently amusing account of one man’s pursuit of an unlikely dream in a golden era of commercial aviation expansion.
Many classic types are featured in these books. When I’ve read them I’ll post a review of them but I’ll be in no hurry to get through them! :) EricT
ps the total price for both books was just over £25 with free UK delivery.

Hi Brian. I decided to start‘I Have Control’ first for no particular reason. One of the early chapters is about flying the Viking. Later chapters include Herald, BAC 1-11, MD 83, 737( for Ben) 707, 757,767 and A320
Fascinating. :) EricT

Hi Eric. I shall get I have control as my Amazon account has been taking a beating anyway.
I can recommend for a good read a series of books by Mike Brooke. Starts off in Germany
on Canberra and follows his flying life through to display flying and Shuttleworth. Very readable
all 5 of them.

Brian..

Hi Brian. I’ve already read two of his books,’Follow Me Through’ (from library in Edinburgh) and ‘Flying Past’(ISBN 978 0 7509 8768 4), which was particularly interesting for his accounts of flying the Avro Tutor and the Blackburn B2 as I had installed them in FS9 not long before.
I’ll check his other books later. EricT

If you are interested, I would like to recommend reading the book by Peter Hamilton. Science fiction master Peter F. Hamilton. Two-book saga set in his popular Commonwealth universe.
Pandora's Star especially recommended.

I’ve just finished reading ‘Hercules’ by Scott Bateman which was published this year. The ISBN is 978-0-241-65558-0. It’s a hugely readable account of the Herc’s RAF service with 47 squadron based at RAF Lyneham and captures the affection in which it was held by it’s crews and also rrecalls many of the actions and activities that it took part in. The author started as an Air Loadmaster on the C130 eventually becoming a copilot and eventually captain. A thoroughly enjoyable read. EricT
