I am in if we can start a little earlier, I am an hour ahead here!!! So, is it
'Target for Tonight', or sometime in the near future?
EDIT..........LOOKS LIKE OPS ARE ON TONIGHT SSHHHHH!
I can make 22.00 BST, any earlier I may have to join in mid flight.

I have had a little practice, that Moehne Dam is VERY TALL, not like real thing at all! I have no AP in the PD Lanc, so 2 hours plus of hand flying in formation means I cannot contribute much to navigation. No GPS either, only a
sextant! At least he will come in handy to dig the graves

Nice of them to floodlight it!
Have you all read this link, included with the scenery?

Hi Trev,
I've just typed a ferkin long reply to the above only to have the forum freeze :curse:
I'll try and remember roughly what I've just lost and hope it doesn't go down the pan again.
Yup.. the FSX scenery is pretty rough from the 'attack' side but without it.. we've not gonna find our targets in the dark I fear  I recommend anyone who's joining in to download and install it anyway.
Much against my better judgement.. I'll take the Gibson role (due to me having FSC fitted) so god have mercy on all our souls

If you stay tight.. I can guarantee getting you to and from both targets along the prescribed routes and NO MORE. It's up to you to miss the overhead pwr cables and keep off the deck
Propose we fly in echelon up to waypoint 8 and line astern from then on (waypoint 9 is target 1). Having consulted with JohnP this afternoon (he's done this flight MP with 622Sqn CFSG).. plan will be to approach target 1 (in line astern) to the right (we join it at the wrong side for the attack) and make a LH turn for the run in. On completing the run, we'll make a RH turn to transit target 2. This will leave a further RH turn onto the target and a final RH turn to get the hell outa there when we've all run in. Route back to Scampton will be as waypoint data off the RAF site
Not sure what time is gonna be best to start but I'd suggest the earlier the better.. while leaving Trev time to join us enroute. As you're hosting Ben (tks for that).. we're at your mercy

How's a meet up in the lobby at between 20:30.. 20:45 for a takeoff time of 21:00?? I'm easy really but if we're to fly at 160kts, we might be in the target area before Trev arrives if we start to early. Correct start time is 21:30 so this can be setup prior to takeoff. I'm not sure Ben but I think you can clock the years back to the exact date and time. We're looking for a full moon
OK.. here's mud in your eye. Tonight IS 'go' night so there'll be a steak dinner in the mess this evening. Good luck and godspeed to you all (plus crash detection OFF)

Sounds Good Dave, I will be joining at (or before) 22.00hrs, are you synchronising time at 21.00 (from 1943) or keeping time 2007 and just using the day from 1943....if you see what I mean. I will try the PD Lanc and if that fails I will fly the WOP. I think that may give the others a problem though

I cannot fly the DG one as I can only fly close formation from the VC.....still it will be dark. I think we will have to have nav lights on, however wrong that is!
EDIT..does just the host set the time and date????
I have also had a recce on the visibilty on May 16th 1943, if we have clear skies, the full moon makes things a little easier!

Hiya Trev,
Yes mate, the host sets all the nitty gritty bits
I loaded up DG's Lancs this afternoon (the BIII and BIII Special) and both of them fly well in FSX. Being gaugeless in VC isn't too much of a drag as I never zoom back far enough to see mine anyway (don't like the fishbowl effect). WoP works ok.. just remember to bring the wop_lanc.cab with it (found in the FS9 gauges folder) and drop it into the panel folder

None of these have AP as far as I'm aware so it'll be hands on all the way

If in doubt.. shift+z to see your speed/alt/hdg (or is it shift+x)
I've not heard back from Ben yet so I don't know which 21:00 (if any) we'll be using  He should be in from work in around 40mins so all may be clearer then

OK Chaps... Date and Time will be set to 16th May 1943... good to go at 21:30 meeting for breifing between 20:30 and 21:00. In Adition to crash detect off, please switch off your in cockpit sounds as its a bugger to here anyone with 4 Merlins at full tilt. I'll string out a LAN cable so I'm not on WiFi which should make things better.... don't forget your mugs of tea / coffee and those biscuts.

I'll use the PD lanc too... But I have a slight problem in that it always veers left when I put the power down for take off... regardless of Rudder.... anyone any ideas?
Photocall on the runway at scampton at 21:20... and if we're lucky and its not too dark I'll try for some shots over the north sea.
DB... I've got FSC too, not sure if you can send the flight plan as a file, but if so, I'll load that up too. In the even of FS going Tech or connection difficults, report back here and I'll check regularly and keep the chaps briefed who are still in game. I don't have the WOP Lanc so god only know what I'll see... hopefully one of the others.

..... another thing.... Can we allocate callsigns for each aircraft based on the original?
I don't have a complete list, but if someone can post the list here we can add our names against the relative callsign.

Ben..
You forgot to say 'bring a bucket/elsan' too mate
WoP Lanc is (or is on my system) Grandslam or standard BIII. If it's loaded correctly, I'd take the BIII as it's a tad lighter

I dunno why I've bothered loading all the variations of Lancaster I can find as we won't be seeing much in the dark will we!!
Good policy to turn down cockpit sounds mate.. will go and do that now

I could hear JohnP ok this afternoon though I think he had a little difficulty hearing me (this could be a positive)
Aircraft callsigns.. Dunno mate. Side numbers could be changed in the cfg I suppose but I don't have a list at hand
Not sure about the PD Lanc slewing with power settings. The only prob I have is that it's not the easiest thing to trim. It WILL find a sweet spot at some point in the flight.. but will eventually fly out of it again
I can't find where FSC hides the 'saved plans' matey or I'd send you mine

I'll be up for that chaps. I have the WOP Lanc installed, fuelled and ready to go. See you at the briefing gentlemen.
