Although importing an effect from a train sim model sounds like a great idea its a non starter really as MSTS does not use an effects system as such and works completely different to FS, You might have thought there would be some commonality between two microsoft sim products but the trainsim was developed by another company (Kuju).
I'm sure you will work something out though.

Fighterpilot: wrote that MS trainsim effects cannot be transferred to FS. What pity!!

Not to worry, Hobby, I am sure between the collective genius of this site or Jerry Beckwith of Mudpond.org we can get some nice smoke flying. I had a rushed attempt at it myself but it came out like a pathetic puff.

Well, we going to have to wait longer until I can figure out what my 2D panel looks so flipping bad...can anyone recommend some tutorials on this? When I save it down from Photoshop into a bitmap, it renders terribly in FS. There might be a very simple and obvious reason for this, but I am clueless so far.

I think it's to do with the format you have to use in FS for panels, something like 8 bit format. I suggest you open a panel of another model and look at its formatting.

Cheers for that, I think I was completely off on the bit format of the bitmap. Have corrected it now and have got a pretty decent front panel done. Now I just need the sides and a rear seat view and she's almost ready for beta. Here are couple of shots from testing WF254 at Warton this evening. Visibility is limited in the cockpit view, but I felt I needed this scale for this instrumentation. Sorry chaps! I BIG, BIG thanks to Dave G and co. for agreeing to let me use their Hunter gauges. Saved me a lot of time and they look super. CHEERS Dave.
