From what I understand of FSX, you can set ships up to move as AI, much like you can with aircraft. i.e. a sort of Traffic tools for ships... which are indeed landable. Imagine setting Ark off on a round the world cruise and playing catch up with her for fuel stops. The problem (I believe) is attching any sort of Radio / ILS system to a moving target, so without a why to find there position, it might be a bit pot luck. I've Vista and FSX hereso if anyone would like anything checked for compatibility let me know

Ark Royal ?, too small mate, l need something like this, easier to find

Now if you can make these move and landable then l'm more than game, good thing about oceans in FSx....no auto gen to slow down the CPU

A bit of decking above the tank vents and I could get a VC10 down on that!!

so if there is going to be a wasp and a leander what about the rfa ships. ie gold rover or olna fleet tankers. they have at time's a bunch of helo's on board. the navy could not get very far without them. who do you think supplies the bangers and mash to the fleet.

just me being grumpy.

Hi Dave..
No mate.. the reality is that those of us who have been in that situation fully appreciate RFA's

You don't get a Task Force going
anywhere without the associated RFA's in tow
but.. and here comes the but.. all of the ship models I've seen thus far tend to be 'offshore' (and not by far) and as such.. they wouldn't have RFA's in Co so to speak (even though I'd like to see 'em)

Should MD's project turn out to be payware (and I fear it will).. the market for an RFA would be almost non-existant (they're the great unwashed don't forget) and to include one as part of a package would have to come at a premium/cost and this would be unpopular with the 'said' unwashed'
You're not being grumpy at all.. just resigned to the commercial world
Should Alpha decide to knock out Olna, Olwen, Olmeda or the 'Spring' class or even the 'Rovers'.. I know that at least 2 of us would buy.. perhaps 3. We live in hope.. albeit not far reaching

Not everything l do is payware :tab: , about 30% of my train sim stuff was freeware, l don't do that any more so my freeware fix needs re-dressing elsewhere.
Your right though, there is nil demand for RFA or merchant men, in which case any built would be freeware, the Leander / Amazon would/will go with the Wasp which incidentally also hasn't been acknowledged as an 'offical' Alphasim project by the men in grey yet, which is why the thread and previews are buried deep in another thread in the 'cafe' and not the official Alphasim screenshots and previews.
I hinted earlier about 'other' parties doing similar RN stuff and lo and behold there's a Sea Vampire just previewed at AS, funny l only mentioned an interest in one a few months back to certain parties.
Its nice to see Rick attempting cohesion between a possible payware Leander / freeware County, it would be nice if that cohesion was spread further a field.
The only problem l have with RN RFAs is that they look ugly as sin ( INVHO ), but then having an obsessive fetish about PTCC's and ULVC's means l shouldn't say that too loudly
As for freeware being the great unwashed, sadly that attitude is true in certain quarters l have had the displeasure to frequent in my FS life time, but its not the attitude of a great many l'm pleased to say, we're not all ogre's you know....well we try not to be

.
Right time to fire up Max and see what today brings.
Kindest
Michael
