The UHB is actually an unducted fan - and as Garry states they made a horrendous noise - I saw the 727UHB fly and it sounded like a bunch of demented wasps on steroids and that was just one engine!

Nice pics  it was pretty sad to hear about the trident ant the scottish muesum of flight. i was looking in that trident cockpit thinking this is a really great set up. not realising it is an actual chopped up trident

i dont really see the point in chopping anything into bits other than to scrap it. if your gonna save something save the whole thing.

Is Your site at manchester open on weekdays?

Hi U79

The problem often with saving the whole thing is the logistics and sheer cost of transporting the whole aeroplane.

this is true i suppose you cant save everything. it would be nice to have a flying example, but i do live in the perfect world of Polly Anna. but hey if they can put the Vulcan back up there maybe someone could put a trident up? And not the type that goes bang neither!

Again its shear cost and skills but its not impossible.

I'ts not that impossible, to save an aircraft,i have done it with G-AWZK,all that is needed is someone with a bit to time and the will to make it happen!! :dunno:

we can only wish and hope if a fund was set up. This country should have a national flight group. a group that keeps the best of british flying for future generations to see.
