That's probably just FSX messing them up Ben. I didn't change the hoses - forgot all about them.

Try this for a fix for the DATUM ADJUST problem in FSX. It seems ok for me, but that's only in the demo.
VC10_PANELS_FIX_20080415.zip (1 mb)
FSX will need the VC10 aircraft.cfg editing as well.
[autopilot] section
default_vertical_speed=
1.0
The fix I've had to come up with for this problem is ridiculous. FSX is hopeless. :doho:

Hi David...
Update has sorted the VS selector which is working a dream... still can't get A/T to go above 180 (unless I'm being a tit which is entirely possible.) Not too woried about the AT though.
Thanks very much.

Hi Ben..
Yes mate.. the AT on the VC10 doesn't go ABOVE 180kts (though if you're very sneaky.. you MIGHT be able to get it to read 185kts)

It wasn't designed to work above that speed so when in the cruise for example, you fly to the speed you want then engage SPEED or MACH hold.. which the aircraft will do by changing trim (as speed drops.. a bit of nose down to bring it back again) ;-) Simplistic answer but it gives the gist of the situation

To be honest.. why have an engineer and not have him gainfully employed watching the throttles

You could of course hit ALT hold which IS accurate while in the cruise and keep prodding the FltEng every now and again!. I remember Tonks saying some years ago that when the VC10 really WAS the Queen of the Skies.. the airlanes were virtually empty to what they are now and it was more than acceptable to fly around the place loosing alt while SPEED or MACH hold were engaged but these days of course, it's a much different situation and rollockings from irate ATC's are not the order of the day
I don't know if the alternate AP works in FSX but (cast me assunder for suggesting it..) you could use that to maintain speed and alt. After all.. we don't have a crew of 4 to look after things in flightsim do we ;-)

I distinctly remember the FO spending much of his time trimming the throttles on the VC10 and the Captain would occasionally remind him with a withering glare if he let the speed rise or fall too far. When I fly the VC10 I certainly control the speed with my FO hat on. Perhaps Dan could look up the recommended procedure in his BOAC flying manual?

I could give you the recommended procedure from the SOP (AL7) but I really would have to kill you all. Now.. there's an idea  No.. I think it best that Dan furnishes us ALL with 'The Right Stuff' (we've been waiting since his purchase but thus far.. our HD's are bare) :o
