As I think I commented several months ago when the original KC-30 deal was announced: may the best product win....regardless of who produces it. I don't think it makes any sense for US taxpayers to foot the bill for an inferior product. Competition should only improve the breed...

That being said...if all things were hypothetically equal, of course I'd prefer to see Boeing tankers flying in USAF colors. Just as I'm sure most enthusiasts in the UK would prefer to see VC.10s flying for perpetuity (as would I!!!). Or most enthusiasts in Russia would prefer to see Tupolevs and Ilyushins flying the Red Star. I'm a diehard Boeing fan, and I generally consider Airbus products to be as appealing of a bowl of cold oatmeal...but my understanding is that the A330 offers better capabilities overall. If that's the case, then I hope they win the contract. End of story.

It'll definitely be interesting to see the final outcome of the Boeing/Airbii tanker bid...
