I'm currently touring the airfields on the western half of the area covered, so don't yet have the lowdown on places such as Heathrow/Gatwick/City etc or the smaller but popular aerodromes of the Kent area.

However, the best one I've come across so far is easily Bournemouth - and if the other and larger airports come up to the same standard, then this really is even better than I thought.
It's nice to see decent AI aircraft included in airport scenery - and not just the static variety. They also include a PDF manual with plan views of each aerodrome along with a brief history.

Here's some shots of Bournemouth, Boscombe Down, St. Mawgan and Cardiff (St Athan is also included in the scenery). Oh, and a strange UFO sighted at Cardiff - maybe for the next series of Dr Who?

Yay! My very own pushback truck for my Mirage at Bournemouth!

And the UKMIL Victor K1 at Cardiff:

Here you can see St Athan in the background - is it really that close in real life? (btw - it also happens to be where I was born... )

I was amazed I actually managed to land the Victor with no dramas at Southampton (considering the restricted view from the cockpit - by today's standards) - nice to see a drogue chute used, too.

Nice shots there John :tab: I would like to get this but it would mess up my AI as I found out when I got the Just flight Lancaster and its free Scampton scenery ,I tested the scenery with the Skysim Sea Vixen when taxing I saw that the AI at Scampton was on the grass :o is there a way to get this use to the new scenery as it still using the old scenery?

I had a similar problem with an airfield, where there was a fence and road going directly across the pan and trucks were driving through my aircraft :o

Just Flight say that the way to fix this is to make sure that the other scenery is above the newer scenery in the scenery library. That way, its settings will apparently override those of the newer one.

I have done this, but not yet checked if it worked with the UK2000 scenery, too - I certainly haven't had the same happen in other ADs since.

I checked with JF because I had a similar issue with their TrafficX.
I am using third party airport software and the A.I. aircraft are now parking in the wrong locations

Please go to your Scenery Library found in Settings and move the entries for the third-party airports above the Traffic X entries. This should ensure that FSX uses the parking positions for the custom scenery
Hope this helps

Hi J0hn, yes St Athan is that close and it can be seen from Rhoose as can the old hangers at Llandow, the 3 airfields were in a 6 mile radius I think. St Athan and Llandow were linked by a taxiway which can still be picked out on Google earth.

I am from Llantwit Major now retired and living in the Philippines.

Today for comparison:

The hanger opposite the tower at Cardiff was pulled down (the brown hanger not the grey BA hanger) and so too was the bit of terminal to the left of the tower.

and it has already been answered, yes Cardiff, Llandow and St Athan are very close.

Okay, thanks for the info and the pictures.

There are some obvious, if relatively minor, differences between the scenery and the actual airport, but I think they have done a good job of it.

It's certainly very convincing 'in-sim'.

I don't think they are meant to be right up to date, though - just good representations of how they are or were.

James - if you are unsure you can ask here and I or one of the others can assist further.

I didn't mean it as a criticism of the scenery. Posting at 5am is my excuse. I have the UK2000 airports myself (or at least the justflight boxed versions). The Cardiff Scenery is very accurate but to how the airport looked about 10 years ago. It's certainly the best there is available. Perfect for any Brtiannia liveried 757s and 767s. Or Ryainair 732s. Or Spanair MD8x's; BA Embraers. EAL 747s. Iberworld A310s. KLM F-50s. None of which we see any more.
