The French don't use 'W' in the usual register which is why they do use F-W for test registrations.

Tony..

The Vanguard sim at Bournemouth is NOT 'Canadian' spec mate. We have that one at Brooklands :) Bournemouth have the 'late' (mod)951.. 953 sim. The panel itself is 953 but the window arrangement is 951.. the exact opposite to Canadian spec 952's ;-)

Nice to see you were paying attention

Oh.. nearly forgot.. here's a ref shot from Airliners of 'said' trainer, http://www.airliners.net/photo/Vickers- ... 1309376/L/
TCA Vanguards were closer to the 951 than the 953 but different which ever way you look at it

EDIT.. Download Frasers 952 panel and you'll see the difference immediately ;-)

TBH.. unless you see the markings from what is visible on the outside of the trainer (or knew the 951/953 trainer was at Bournemouth) it's an easy mistake to make ;-) When the museum at Bournemouth was being kicked off the airfield, we were keeping a close eye on what was going to happen to the Vanguard trainer. At one point, it was 'turn up and it's yours' :o I wish in many ways we could have had it rather than for it to sit outside under a bit of plastic because it won't last there long.. it needs to be under cover (it IS plywood after all) :-( That said.. I can only imagine what Brooklands might have done with it so I take some comfort in the fact it's not our fault! It's sad that these things are 'unique' but are treated with what amounts to contempt :-(

I believe the first one had Noel Penny engines but with that concern ceasing to exist in the early 90s, the second one had more efficient Williams-Rolls turbofans, FJX1s.
