It was only the marriage of the 707 and the Conways that didn't work for me, Brian :roll:
Boeing's philosophy really came good when aircraft got big and I reckon the build quality of those jumblies have saved my sorry skin on more than one occasion. I can sleep soundly in a 747-400 but in anything else I stay wide-eyed with white-knuckled fear
I think the 436 was a political and commercial invention - a triumph of compromise over common sense

BA wouldn't support them anymore - their apprentices used to maintain them. Whether Cosford decided to re-brand as the RAF museum because of that, or whether that was happening anyway, I'm not sure.
