Ian..

IE8 is exactly the same as IE7 with WinXP which is why I uninstalled it 10mins after installing it.. less perhaps :D Both 7 and 8 were designed to go with Vista and Win7 so I guess if you have probs with WinXP, pay your money and update to the newer OS. Note, it is ONLY IE7 and 8 this problem manifests itself with (and WinXP) and with text INSIDE the browser window only. Everything outside the browser window remains crystal including the toolbars, search windows and title bar :)

Hi Dave,

WinXP and IE7 here. You haven't by any chance got out of sync with the ctrl plus scroll wheel (or +/-) which can increase/decrease the text size? Depending how much you zoom in/out you can get blurred looking text but you should be able to find a 'sweet spot' where it's all nice and pin sharp.

Regards

John

To be brutally honest John, I had no idea such a thing existed.

When IE7 hit our shores, I, like many here grabbed the download and installed it. Doing nothing more than open IE7, I immediately noticed the blurred small text (the larger stuff wasn't so bad). I wasn't alone then so I uninstalled IE7 and went back to 6. Years down the line, we have IE8 which I also tried with exactly the same result so off it came. I wish to god I'd uninstalled IE7 earlier on this pc (the new one) but I now get a warning that things may not work with IE7 uninstalled so that's the only reason it's still here. As an alternative, I tried Firefox and this was pinsharp from the word go.. like IE6!!
As a by the by.. I'm seeing exactly the same jaggies as DM is, that is.. which ones are worse than others. Whatever it is mate, it's directly associated to IE7 and 8.. that or M$ don't give a toss if half of their users see blurred text :D
