One suspects that they'd better ask fairly soon, particularly if it's structural stuff.

Cracking vid! Is there any A/C that looks so good particularly with a bit of sideslip/aerial crabbing on approach?

The aircraft might be reaching the end of their lives, but you can rest assured that the crew members who flew in them still have a few more years

That's what they were designed for Eddie. Back in the 70s when pilots had more freedom, one of the best experiences was doing a short take-off from a third-world airport where nobody would complain. Often it would be a virtually empty shuttle flight from somewhere like Blantyre or Gaborone, with little fuel on board, hopping back to Jo'burg. The Captain would brief us to make sure everything and everyone was battened down tight. This worked better on the Standard as it was over-powered compared to the Super.

The crew would wind it up to max power and hold it on the brakes until it started creeping forward then just let go. The acceleration was incredible and rotation followed in seconds. Then they'd just hold maximum climb angle and full power up to a good altitude. Watching the earth drop away so quickly was just the most amazing experience. You couldn't do that in a 707

Of course, there was no reason for it other than that it felt fantastic.

Ian :)
