The dark blue mini with the chequers running down the bonnet (hood) is the same year as the one I had 'Y'. Not sure if I ever fooled anyone or just made them laugh but I put a 'Turbo' sticker on the boot (trunk). I thought it was amusing even if no one else did

I did actually have a turbo at the time.. a Kawasaki ZX750E1

Oh yes.. the small racing wheel was pre-requisite. I couldn't drive (get in the car) with the standard lorry steering wheel

I fitted a centre panel and a radio cassette too

Trying to think what it was now.. yup a 1000 HLE affectionately known as Thomas

Dave after reading austerdrivers wiki link I don't think I could fit .. -10x4x4?
It would have to be a convertable and I have removed the front seat and drive from the back seat.

Electric Aerial

Flash git
Joe.. they were a lot of fun and no mistakin' but when the chips were down, it was a pain in the butt to be in and an even bigger pain in the butt to maintain. I fondly remember my mini owning days as those when I had no skin on my knuckles

Also.. they hated rain. Mine only had to sniff a cloud and it'd go onto 3 cylinders and the 'factory' kit to stop this happening generally held more water than if it weren't fitted

A tube of black plastic (like you'd get in a strong plastic bag) elasticated at one end (to sit snuggly over the distributer cap.. and hold water in) with poppers on the top to allow the HT leads out. Like something off kids TV but a lot more expensive

They certainly hated the rain
Splash thrugh a puddle and it was a case of when, not if.......100 yards........quarter mile, it was gonna conk.
Great thing about them is you were pootering along at 45 yet so glose to the ground it felt fast..really fast and the noise helped you with the feeling it was about to go supersonic.
Like you say Dave a lot of fun, beastly to work on, but the best three cylinder car I ever had

I seen one with a Rover V8 in the back once!
Off topic:
ZX750E1 eh Dave? What was that thing like to ride, turbo lag much of a shortcut to a highside?
Have you seen that B-King with the 450hp turbo kit?
