I've mentioned before that one of my favourite biking areas is under the flight path from Boscombe Down and I frequently experience the ETPS 1-11 doing full power climbs overhead and I can vouch for the fact that 'hush kit' doesn't really do what it says on the sidejonesey2k wrote:Least it doesn't have hush-kits...

I remember when I was a small child, my dad used to take me to Liverpool AP to see the planes. I can remember this "big white scary plane with Shannon written in big letters on it" used to make a right racket and terrify me when it took off.speedbird591 wrote:I've mentioned before that one of my favourite biking areas is under the flight path from Boscombe Down and I frequently experience the ETPS 1-11 doing full power climbs overhead and I can vouch for the fact that 'hush kit' doesn't really do what it says on the sidejonesey2k wrote:Least it doesn't have hush-kits...I can hear it quite distinctly from home 15 miles away.
But last week I was crossing a remote field and heard a quiet jet overhead so stopped and looked up, as you do, and there she was just whispering away in a gentle climb with little more noise than an Airbussy thing. I don't know what they're teaching these Imperial test pilots nowadays![]()
I might have to make representations in case they set a precedent for quiet flight operations.
Nice shots, Dave.
