I have a 24" 16x9 on one system and two 19" 4x3 on another. I much prefer the two-screen setup.

Why not a widescreen LCD TV with PC input, then you can change the aspect ratio from 16:9 for usual desktop PC use and change it to 4:3 for flying if you want?
Would that work on the PC input settings like it does on TV? I've never tried it.
But if you check ebay for enough CRTs you could do this
Extra-extra widescreen.

Ps and widescreens are great when you are following something new, you can have the programme open on the right in 4:3 style ratio and have the pdf manual open on screen on the left.

Now
that is just ri-damn-dicolous ..
how can that be any kind of realism .
anyway, agreed Darren, I like the wide screen for the side by side app viewing with NO frame of separate monitors between them
In fact my ultimate choice would be this

or this

But some have different likes - I hope theirs are fulfilled.

Hi anyone/everyone,
Hope you've survived Christmas (thus far). My 19" CRT monitor has also begun to pack up: the focusing ("convergence") seems to've gone and trying to change the brightness/contrast has no effect. So, I saw this thread -- very timely -- but, having read through it, I'm not sure whether it's a widescreen, 16:9 or 4:3 dimension that's probably best for a monitor used for work (word-processing, etc) as well as flightsimming.
It seems it's 16:9, then 4:3, otherwise widescreen -- but widescreen would really distort dials, yes..? (Both 2-d and virtual-cockpit dials?)
David
PS
This listing looks better than the one I felt my way towards before finding this thread -- thanks, airboatr!
I also have an eBid account and haven't yet ruled out the likes of Amazon, etc.
