I have to admit I actually did use Gary's method at a mini roundabout in Bedford. No traffic in sight so I drove straight across the painted circle and was subjected to a lot of criticism from the back seat drivers present at the time (my sisters). But did I criticize them when they insisted on driving 10 mph below the speed limit in the far right lane on the M1 instead of using the left lane? You bet I did!
